The Mad Hatter Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 July 2026
Information stored on your device
The game stores the following information locally on your device:
- your high score and whether the 1,000-point milestone has been reached; and
- one broad audience category: child, teen or adult.
The first time you play, the game asks you to choose one of three age groups: under 13, 13–17 or 18 and older. The game stores only the corresponding child, teen or adult category on your device. It does not ask for, save or send your exact age or date of birth.
Advertising and data handled by Google
The Mad Hatter uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google User Messaging Platform to display a General Audience banner and manage privacy choices. Google states that its Mobile Ads SDK automatically collects and shares the following data for advertising, analytics and fraud-prevention purposes:
| Data type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Approximate location | General location estimated from the device IP address. |
| App activity | App launches, taps and other product interactions. |
| App information and performance | Diagnostics such as launch time, hangs and energy usage. |
| Device or other identifiers | App-set identifiers and, when permitted, the Android advertising ID. |
Google reports that this data is encrypted in transit. Learn more in Google’s Mobile Ads data disclosure and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Children and teens
Advertising is not requested until an audience category has been selected. Child and teen sessions receive Google’s corresponding age-restricted treatment, and all requests are limited to General Audience ad content. Child and teen consent requests are marked as under the age of consent. These settings disable personalised advertising and restrict identifier use according to Google’s platform controls.
Your privacy choices
When Google requires a consent message, the game displays it before requesting an ad. A “Privacy & ads” button appears on the title screen whenever Google requires an ongoing privacy-options entry point.
You can delete the game’s locally stored high score and audience category by clearing The Mad Hatter’s app data in Android settings or uninstalling the game. You can reset or delete the Android advertising ID through Android’s privacy settings. Because the game has no account or SmoothSteve server profile, there is no account-based personal record for us to retrieve or delete.
Security and retention
SmoothSteve does not operate a game server for The Mad Hatter. Local game data remains on the device until you clear the app data or uninstall the game. Data handled by Google is retained under Google’s own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the game, its advertising configuration or legal requirements change. The current version and revision date will always be published on this page.
